INTERVIEW: Morgan (Surfer / Photographer)

WHAT IS YOUR LOCAL BREAK

I grew up surfing Sandbar and Rincon in Santa Barbara, and spending most of my free time goofing around at a wave called Mesa Lane, right down the street from my house.

WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE SPOT IN THE WORLD TO SURF AND WHY?Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa. I truly think it is the best wave in the world. And beyond just the quality of the wave, the scenery is spectacular: whales, dolphins, sharks, otters, unbelievable sunrises, and the surrounding African landscape.

WHAT DO YOU THINK THE SURF INDUSTRY CAN BE DOING BETTER TO SUPPORT THE HEALTH OF THE OCEANS?

So many surf brands make product that serves no purpose but a high margin. If every brand focused on using higher quality materials, better manufacturing processes, and had a consensus of working towards a healthier environmental footprint... we would be in such a better place.

WHAT INSPIRATIONAL BRANDS AND COMPANIES HAVE YOU COME ACROSS WHO ARE DOING THINGS THAT ARE BETTER FOR THE OCEAN?

I am a huge fan of Surfrider... i love how they work as a global operation, as well as empowering local communities to fight their issues on all sizes & scales. Take 3 For the Sea and Sustainable Coastlines of Hawaii are also doing incredible work right now, as well as educating our generation and the future generation on environmental initiatives.
