The Born Slippy Surf School 'Waver' Program

If the oceans die, we die.

The vitality of our oceans is inextricably linked to our own survival. Recognising the pivotal role the surfing community plays in ocean conservation, we believe that surfers, as stewards of the sea, must intensify their efforts to safeguard marine ecosystems for posterity.

In response to this urgent call to action, we have launched the Born Slippy Surf School Waver Program. This initiative is designed to galvanise the next generation of surfers towards adopting sustainable surfing practices and fostering a deeper commitment to ocean preservation than ever before.

Our mission is ambitious yet clear: to secure the commitment of surf schools globally to the Waver Program. By signing the waver, each participant pledges to uphold a personal and collective responsibility towards the oceans.

This commitment includes but is not limited to: listening to instructors, using eco-friendly equipment, being environmentally responsible, practicing sustainability in daily life, respecting wildlife, and more!

This commitment symbolises hope that, through collective action, even incremental changes by individual surfers can cumulate into a significant positive impact on our oceans.

Why Supporting Local Surf Schools is Important

Local surf schools play a crucial role in ocean conservation efforts. They are often the first point of contact for new surfers, providing an opportunity to instill sustainable practices and ocean awareness from the very beginning. By supporting these schools, we ensure that future generations of surfers are equipped with the knowledge and passion needed to protect our oceans.

Born Slippy is currently fundraising for surf schools that don't have access to eco-friendly equipment throughout the year. All of these schools are showcased on our Brand Directory page.
