INTERVIEW: Manon (SunDaze)

INTERVIEW: Manon (SunDaze)

Hi, I'm Manon the co-founder at SunDaze!

1. WHY IS CONSERVING AND PROTECTION THE OCEANS IMPORTANT TO YOU?
We believe in protecting what we love, and the oceans hold a special place in our hearts. By taking action to preserve them, we ensure that future generations can also experience the beauty and wonders of the sea.

2. WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT IS BETTER FOR THE OCEANS?
We use reef-safe products in the ocean, avoid single-use plastic as much as possible, support ocean charities, and educate others for better ocean health. We also use ECONYL® for our surf suits. This fabric is made from recycled fishing nets and other plastic waste collected from the ocean, contributing to ocean cleanup efforts and promoting sustainability.

3. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE SURFING INDUSTRY SPECIFICALLY CAN BE DOING TO SUPPORT THE HEALTH OF THE OCEANS?
We feel like using recycled/sustainable resources shouldn’t be a unique sellig point, but an industry norm. Besides that, the surfing industry can support ocean health by making only reef-safe products, supporting ocean charities and research projects, and using social media to educate followers.

4. CAN YOU RECOMMEND ANY BOOKS, BRANDS, ORGANISATIONS OR PEOPLE OUR FOLLOWERS SHOULD CHECK OUT FOR INSPIRATION?
Patagonia is a great inspiration as a brand and we found the book "Let My People Go Surfing" by Yvon Chouinard a great read. Drifter in Bali is another great organization to follow, promoting environmental conservation through river clean-ups, fundraising, and support for local initiatives. We are very proud to sell our collection in their store.

ANY FINAL MESSAGE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?
Join us on our journey of bridging the gap between sustainability and the fashion industry. We want to show you through complete transparency, that this goal is an achievable one.
